February 2019 - Brrrrr!
What a frosty February we have had!
The children enjoyed exploring a unit on our 5 senses this month. Many of our centres and craft activities have revolved around using our senses. The two most popular centres this month: our water table was filled with snow (mittens provided to keep those little fingers warm!) and enjoyed digging in garden themed sensory bins full of black beans. Our crafts doubles as science experiments in many cases this month. For example, we created sensory bottles using water, oil, food colouring and sparkles and we created suncatchers by mixing glue and food colouring.
The four year old morning class and the 3/4 slit afternoon class are making leaps and bounds with their printing as they continue working their way through the alphabet. We continue to build fine motor skills and finger strength in all of our classes in many ways: using scissors, tongs, playdough, small pieces of chalk and finger crayons and more! All of the classes are now using customized reusable mats to practice printing their names.
